Dare Paintball & Splatball. A Truly Exhilarating Group Activity

Paintball is an ideal activity for sporting clubs, youth groups, corporate groups or just a great day out for a special event. Paintball promotes team building and leadership skills in a challenging and engaging environment as each side tries to outwit their opponents and secure victory for the team through a variety of strategies.

What is Paintball & Splatball?

Paintball is played in over 40 countries by millions of men and women of all ages and life styles. The sport of Paintball does not require physical strength and size rather success is gained through strategy, intelligence and the determination to succeed in the game.

Splatball is very similar except is uses different ammunition and equipment which is safer and better suited for younger groups or for people who are scared to try traditional paintball.

Paintball Equipment

Dare Paintball uses semi automatic BT4 Paintball Markers. Markers are high tech blowguns and are designed to propel the paintballs at a speed of 200 to 300 feet per second. Paintballs are a round thin plastic shell filled with a water-soluble paint. Since paintballs only weigh a few grams each they have very little momentum whilst in flight and thus are not lethal like the heavy lead projectiles fired from conventional firearms.

For your safety Paintball players must always wear protective goggles to protect their eyes whilst playing.

Although there are many different game formats the most common one is where a group of players will divide into two teams to play “capture the flag”.

The objective of the game is to go out and capture the other team’s flag at the same time you are eliminating the opposition team by tagging them with a paintball. On impact the paintballs break open releasing brightly coloured vegetable dye. When you have been tagged you raise your marker above your head, call “HIT” and walk from the field to the designated safe area.

Game Duration: Games run for 15 – 30 minutes depending on the size of the field and the number of players. Between games, players take a break, reload, check equipment and plan strategies for the next game.

Fitness: You can play to your own fitness level but be prepared to raise the tempo as the adrenalin and the competitive will to win steps in.

Safety: Paintball is a safe activity. Referees control the games and the players must wear safety facemasks at all times unless in a designated safe area. Being marked does hurt and may produce some bruising. The referees will deal with safety breaches quickly.

Who can play?

To play Paintball on Dare fields players must be over 15 years of age, for those younger than 15 we offer Splatball.

While the legal age for paintball is 12 in WA we have found that it is not fun for the younger children. In some circumstances we will allow younger players to participate in paintball, but this is on a case by case basis and completely at the discretion of the Dare team.

Players 8 years old and above can play Splatball.

Paintball is entertaining, builds team spirit, encourages leadership skills, and is suitable for all fitness levels and skills. Paintball is just great fun!

Player Information

Please arrive at the designated time at Dare Paintball. You will be fitted for equipment and given instructions on how to play.

We provide you with a set of overalls to wear for your Paintball game, the paint does not stain clothing and is washable, we recommend that you wear enclosed, supportive footwear and comfortable clothing that you wouldn’t mind getting ruined, underneath the overalls as it’s highly likely you will get dirty during the game and in winter, wet. Chest protectors will be available for females.

There is a toilet situated near the field. Water is available from our rainwater tanks and is free. Please make sure you bring your own water bottles.

Wet weather usually adds to the fun and challenge, making the game of paintball engaging for all to enjoy. Please bring a raincoat.

Safety is a priority and stressed throughout the games. Goggles are to be worn at all times unless in designated safe areas. All paintball markers have their safety catches on and barrel socks making them safe when not in use.

Referees on the field enforce safety and game rules. No physical contact is permitted in the game and players will be ejected from games for breaking safety rules.

Strictly no alcohol or drug taking before and during games will be permitted.

In general Paintball is a sport that you win by making and taking advantage of opportunities. The way you make opportunities is to move.

You move:

  • behind an obstacle
  • to a better spot
  • to grab a flag
  • to cover a team mate

Movement comparatively, is more important than shooting.

Shooting: remember to aim.
Know the Rest of your Team they are your backup.

Getting Tagged: yes it does sting but the bruising will fade.

If you are unsure of anything or need help ask a referee: their aim is for you to have a wonderful action packed day.
